Clearer Podcast Stats Could Boost Ad Spending

Advertisers are hesitant to spend more money on video podcast ads because there isn’t a clear way to measure and compare results across platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple. A survey by Oxford Road found that 76% of brands would increase their podcast advertising if YouTube’s measurement matched audio standards, possibly adding $1 billion to the industry. The main problem is that each platform uses different tracking methods, making it hard for advertisers to know how well their ads are working.

Netflix to Add Video Podcasts from Spotify, Comedy Still Missing

Spotify has partnered with Netflix to release 16 video podcasts on Netflix in 2026, blocking full episodes from airing on YouTube. The initial podcast lineup includes sports, pop culture, and true crime, but surprisingly, no comedy shows, despite Netflix’s strong reputation in comedy. Sources say comedy podcasts will be added in the future, but it’s unknown when or which shows will be included.

Shifting Terrain

Shifting Terrain returns for its second season on October 28, continuing its acclaimed exploration of the political and cultural forces dividing America's working class. Hosted by Rachel Rybaczuk, the independent podcast cuts through partisan noise and academic abstraction by centering authentic working-class voices and experiences. The new season delves into urgent issues including Christian nationalism, labor organizing, and immigration, while opening with a revealing dialogue between a progressive social media influencer and a Fox News commentator. By connecting personal stories to broader national trends, the show offers both a critique of Democratic Party shortcomings and a hopeful roadmap for building a multiracial, cross-class democracy.

Podcast Tip Of The Day

Podfade is the gradual or sudden disappearance of a podcast, typically occurring when creators stop releasing new episodes due to burnout, lack of motivation, or unsustainable production demands.

Avoid podfade by batching episodes in advance and setting a realistic release schedule. Build a content bank of evergreen episodes and repurpose past highlights for busy periods. Share the creative load through guest interviews and delegate tasks like editing or promotion. Most importantly, track your creative energy and experiment with formats before burnout sets in, ensuring your podcast grows sustainably.

A Final Note

“A sustainable podcast that releases quality episodes consistently—even less frequently—will always outperform a burnt-out creator.”
