Reward Doubled to $50,000 in Johnson County mom’s disappearance

Nearly half a decade after the baffling disappearance of Angela Green, a mom from Prairie Village, her case is still an active police investigation. The unresolved mystery has sparked national curiosity leading to two new developments. Steve Ridge, a private detective from Cedar Rapids, Iowa who previously announced a $25,000 reward for any information that could help locate Green or her remains last year, has now informed The Star that he's doubling the reward money to $50,000.

The podcast, Hello From The Magic Tavern, is being turned into a cartoon by Play Hooky Productions - owned by Sam Rockwell and Mark Berger, in conjunction with Starburns Industries - the creators of Rick and Morty. This announcement comes right before the launch of the podcast's fifth season on March 18. The show features hosts engaging in discussions with magical creatures, wizards, and adventurers from the fictional world of Foon.

Spotify and City, University of London are inviting applications for a new scholarship to enrol in the UK's inaugural MA course in Podcasting. Spotify is sponsoring one student from an underserved community to join the second year of this program, commencing September 2024.

YouTube Music wasn't initially developed to be a podcasting application. However, Google has rapidly expanded its features in the past year or so, including adding podcasts through RSS and automatically downloading new episodes. Despite these enhancements, as pointed out by our Abner Li recently, there are still numerous podcasting features missing. Meanwhile, time is running out for Google Podcasts.

  • 6% of podcast listeners have listened to the Comedy genre. Over half of these comedy podcast listeners believe that podcasts provide in-depth discussions on topics which they can't find elsewhere. 55% of comedy podcast listeners say these shows keep them updated with pop culture trends.

  • SiriusXM saw a significant increase in content downloads, specifically a rise by 78%, on Simplecast in 2022. In the last three months, around 64% of comedy podcast listeners started listening to new shows regularly.

  • A large number (80%) of comedy podcast audiences tune into such podcasts daily. Not only are most people tuning into comedy podcasts frequently, but around 64% listen to multiple episodes one after another without breaks.

  • The majority (70%) of these listeners feel personally connected with the hosts and about half consider their favorite comedy podcasts important for mental health and well-being. Comedy podcasts are also seen as a source of entertainment for nearly all (89%) its audience members who listen primarily for enjoyment purposes,

  • Despite advertising within this genre's content, nine out ten surveyed listeners said their opinions about brands do not change due to advertisements during the show's runtime.
