UK Listeners Prefer On-Demand Content Podcasting is becoming an increasingly popular form of media in the UK, with 42% of Brits having listened to a podcast in the past week. Podcast ads are viewed as less intrusive and more trustworthy than other forms of advertising, including celebrities. The rapid growth of podcasts shows its significance as both an entertainment medium and powerful advertising platform. | ![]() |
Spotify's NextGen Program Empowers Underrepresented Creators In 2022, Spotify partnered with Spelman College to grow podcast culture at historically black colleges via its NextGen audio program. This partnership involved developing curricula, awarding scholarships, supporting student podcasts, and refurbishing an on-campus podcast studio for Spelman students. Going forward, Spotify plans to continue empowering underrepresented creators through NextGen by collaborating with other universities such as Howard University and North Carolina A&T University. | ![]() Spotify |
Former President Trump Set for Interview with Joe Rogan Donald Trump is set to appear on Joe Rogan's podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience", before the 2024 U.S. election, marking his first appearance on the show. The recording will take place at Rogan's studio in Texas, with no release date confirmed yet. This comes after Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast and amid previous tensions between Trump and Rogan over the latter's comments about Robert F Kennedy Jr. | ![]() Variety |

Wayfair Boosts Sales by Advertising on Radio Online home improvement retailers like Wayfair account for 29% of such purchases in the first half of 2024, with a high intent among shoppers to continue online shopping. Research shows younger buyers and heavy listeners of AM/FM radio or podcasts are more likely to shop online for home improvement items. Despite this trend, Wayfair is not investing in radio advertising even though reallocating 20% of its TV March 2024 budget to radio could result in a significant reach increase. | ![]() |

JOSIE ANN LEE & PETE MARTEL’S PODCAST JOURNEY
Meet Josie and Pete, your friendly guides through the world of policy. They're here to break down complex issues into bite-sized pieces in a way that's fun and easy to understand. With their unique mix of serious discussion, humor, wit, and just a pinch of sarcasm, you'll find learning about Michigan laws enjoyable. From court rulings to new bills and actions by key officials like the AG or SOS - they've got all bases covered on The Drumbeat with Josie & Pete! | ![]() |
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background? Pete and I met in kindergarten. After graduation, our paths diverged. I graduated from the UofM and moved to Chicago to study at 2nd City. Eventually, I became a business leader and speaker. Pete, however, became involved in crime and spent 14 years incarcerated, with 10 of those years in solitary confinement. He has since gone on to earn a law degree and worked for criminal justice reform. | What inspired you to start a podcast? Our experiences have led us to this point. The way we see the world has been shaped by loss, service, and the desire to make an impact. We believe we can create a nonpartisan approach to the issues that matter to the communities in our state and share it in a way that is fun, educational, and empowers people to learn and grow. |
How did you come up with the name of your podcast? Pete and I even had a band in 5th grade—I was the drummer. Pete, however, went on to become a drummer in a rock band until he went to prison. And now he's drumming again! When he asked me about doing a podcast focused on nonpartisan policy, I thought "The Drumbeat" would be a perfect name. It speaks to our shared past and also implies that steady, consistent work is needed to create change. | What is the main focus or theme of your show? Our show mainly focuses on policy, not politics. We discuss serious topics with different people in a light-hearted way, using humor and sarcasm. In every episode, we start with a question and look at how decisions about Michigan's policy affect you and your community. ![]() |
Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you? We're relatively new to this, but we've had so much fun letting our friendship, personalities, and banter shine through. I think the best part is continuing to learn together and ensuring we connect with people across our state, while always keeping an eye on the impact our work might have on our hometown of Dryden, Michigan
| Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why? Ronald Simpson-Bey . His story is remarkable. He served in prison for 27 years, and his son was murdered on Father's Day while Ron was waiting for him to visit. But he's taken every lesson he learned and found ways to be a leader and advocate. He currently serves as Executive Director and President of Just Leadership USA. His organization is doing amazing work nationally to develop leaders from formerly incarcerated people. He's an inspiration! What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about? We're looking to produce two episodes on location. First, we want to tape an episode on prison reform and needs at a prison in Michigan. Second, we want to tape an episode from our hometown! Overall, the goal is to ensure our episodes are timely and provide our listeners with a call to action. We want to educate and inspire. |
A special thanks to JOSIE & PETE for sharing their insightful podcast journey thus far and we wish them all the best with their continued podcast growth.

PODCAST TOOL OF THE DAY

Create A Podcast On Acast
Create A New Podcast
First, Acast needs to determine whether a brand new podcast is being started or if a podcast from another host is being imported. If you're creating a new show, imagine it as drawing an image on an empty canvas. Just adhere to these uncomplicated steps.
Tap on the option that says Create a new show. Doing this will set up a fresh show with its own RSS feed.
You'll be asked to input some simple information about your podcast, such as its name, categories, and copyright details. If you're unsure about any of these right now, it's okay - they can be updated later. When you're ready to finalize your new show, hit the button that says Create my new show.
Well done! You've successfully made your new show! Now all you need to do is tap on New Episode and upload episodes onto your platform so you can start sharing your podcast!
Create A New Episode
Navigate to your show and find the "New Episode" button in the upper right area of the "My Episodes" section. Click on it.
You can start setting up a new episode in the Acast CMS before you've finished editing your audio file. This helps speed up the process of getting your episode ready to publish. Remember to save everything as a draft at the end of the publishing page.
While your episode's audio file is uploading from your computer, go ahead and fill out the general details for the episode. After upload, there are options available if you want to download or change the audio within that section.
The episode information consists of required and additional specifics that are shared with other podcast platforms through your show feed.
Episode cover - You have the option to include a unique cover for each episode. If you don't, the main show's cover will be used instead
Subtitle - It works best when kept short and concise
Link - This is an optional feature where you can add a web link such as to a blog or website
Season and Episode numbers - These are optional numbers for episodes
Type - The type of episode which Apple Podcasts use to organize content
Proceed with publish now or schedule for later. Remember to insert advertisement indicators if you're using Acast to generate revenue from your program.
