Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background? Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, I developed a love for culture and creativity. My passion for travel started with a trip to the U.S. and never stopped. Now based in Canada, I explore the world with my daughter, discovering the deep bonds family travel creates. I founded the Travel Love Legacy podcast to highlight Black and Brown travelers and celebrate diverse stories. | What inspired you to start a podcast? I started my podcast after years of solo travel, realizing its transformative power. A major health scare pushed me to leave a legacy for my daughter, showcasing the incredible benefits of travel for kids. I wanted to inspire other Black and Brown families to explore the world, due to a multitude of misconceptions and lack of diversity in the travel media. |
How did you come up with the name of your podcast? I simply put the main emotions and goal when I think of the word Travel. And that is: Love and Legacy. | What is the main focus or theme of your show? My podcast, Travel Love Legacy, explores the joys and challenges of family travel from a Black and Brown perspective. It aims to inspire parents to embrace travel’s benefits for kids, fostering cultural understanding and deeper family bonds. Through stories, tips, and insights, we celebrate diverse travel experiences and encourage families to explore the world together. ![]() |
Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you? My memorable moments are the reminders during the interviews of my Why. When parents express and share stories of how they overcame challenges in their decisions to travel with their family, move countries or become nomadic is truly inspiring. While each guest and their story is unique, there is the overarching sentiment of finding a better way to live and experience the world for their kids.
| Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why? Sounds cliche but everyone. However I do resonate a lot with parents who are single and their stories because I am a single parent as well. What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about? I'm looking forward to delving into more partnerships and guest stories. I would like to record a special series based on specific topics that I know are major pain points for many families when it comes to travel. |
A special thanks to MELANIE for sharing her insightful podcast journey thus far and we wish her all the best with her continued podcast growth.
