MATTHEW FOSTER’S PODCAST JOURNEY
Meet Matthew, your friendly host of the Poetry Space Podcast. Join him as he dives into topics like poetry, life, love and relationships. Plus, you won't want to miss his Late Night Sessions every Friday night. Tune in weeknights at 9pm for some sound advice and spoken word to end your day on a positive note. | ![]() |
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background? I am a host of The Poetry Space Podcast and also run a YouTube channel! | What inspired you to start a podcast? I wanted to share my love for the art of poetry by showcasing some spoken word performances. |
How did you come up with the name of your podcast? Well, originally my podcast had two prior names: The Poetry Corner Podcast with Matt Foster, which In turn was too long a name for the audience to search up, and The Poet's World Podcast which really didn't resonate with me that well; so now it's been renamed to what it is today. | What is the main focus or theme of your show? I discuss a variety of topics but mainly I cover: Poetry, life, and relationships just to name a few. ![]() |
Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you? When I decided to record my very first episode, I remember being so nervous to hit the record button that I had to count to ten to relax my nerves!
| Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why? All the guest I've had on the podcast I truly value the same and I've been honored to have them share their story and talents on the show. What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about? I am switching over to video podcast episodes this in October. Since the start of the podcast I've been releasing audio episodes but I'm excited to start video episodes next month! |
A special thanks to MATT for sharing his insightful podcast journey thus far and we wish him all the best with his continued podcast growth.

Podcast cover art
Picking a good name for your show is crucial, but so is selecting appropriate artwork. This image will be displayed on all podcast directories and will likely be the first thing potential listeners see. Captivate provides a useful guide on podcast artwork specifications here, but in brief, your image should be:
square
maximum 3000px by 3000px
less than 1 MB file size for compatibility
jpg or png format
Click 'Next: Description and categories' when ready to proceed.
Description and categories
Choose a show name and give a detailed description about it. This should include the topic, guest involvement, season structure, episode length, publication frequency, how to access exclusive content and social media handles.
Categorize your podcast for easier discovery by listeners. Choose a main category that will be visible on all platforms. A second sub-category can extend your reach within the main one. You may also choose a third extension category.
When you're satisfied with your description and categories, click Next to set up Directory Settings.
Directory settings
Choose your show format, it can be episodic or serial. Be clear if your podcast uses explicit language as platforms like Apple could remove your show if they deem it inappropriate without prior notice. Indicate how many episodes to display on directories and select the default publishing time for each episode. Don't forget to set up the timezone of the show, particularly important when scheduling or promoting episodes. Once done, click Next to confirm your feed settings.
Confirm your feed
Final step: Set up your RSS feed. This sends your show's details to podcast platforms and apps, allowing listeners to add the show to their library. Captivate provides a default RSS feed but you can modify it if desired. It starts with https://feeds.captivate.fm/ followed by where your show will be located. After selecting your feed, click 'Create my podcast'. Your show will appear in the 'My Podcasts' section of the Captivate dashboard. Now, you're ready to upload your first episode!
