🎙The Host

Garret and Sabrina are the creators of the weekly podcast, I Know Dino. As a married couple with a shared passion for dinosaurs, they have attracted over 3 million listeners to their show. Their love for dinosaurs started in childhood, inspired by films like Land Before Time and Jurassic Park. This passion carried into their adult lives - they even had a dinosaur-themed wedding!

🎧Listen To Some Of Their Episodes

  • How dinosaurs, fungi, and plants evolved together

The episode examined the intriguing connection between dinosaurs, fungi and plants, including a theory that dinosaurs might have consumed psychedelic substances. It delved into topics such as the presence of ergot fungus during the Cretaceous period, evidence of fungi in dinosaur feces (Isisaurus coprolites), and how dinosaurs feasting on flowering plants may have influenced plant evolution. The discussion also considered the effects of end-Cretaceous extinction on modern rainforests and how plants survived after this mass extinction event.

  • Zofia Kielan-Jaworowska - "the rarest among the rare"

Zofia headed numerous trips to Mongolia, where she and her team found hundreds of mammals and dinosaurs, such as Deinocheirus and the Fighting Dinosaurs. The latter refers to a fossilized velociraptor and Protoceratops seemingly engaged in a deadly fight. Deinocheirus, once thought to be terrifying, is now seen as somewhat silly due to its massive arms and claws; it's a unique plant-eating theropod.

  • Why Brontosaurus is the best dinosaur

The "thunder lizard" was a popular sauropod that often appeared in movies for over a hundred years and would have been an impressive sight during the Jurassic period. The dinosaur of the day was Astrophocaudia, a massive 20 ton sauropod. It lived during the Early Cretaceous era at the same time as Sauroposeidon.

PODCAST TIP

Pros and Cons of Adding "Podcast" to Your Podcast Name/Title

Pros:

  1. Clarity: Including "podcast" in the title makes it immediately clear what the content is, helping potential listeners understand it’s an audio show.

  2. SEO Benefits: Adding "podcast" can improve searchability, as people often include the word when searching for shows on platforms like Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

  3. Branding: It sets your show apart from blogs, YouTube channels, or other content formats, making your brand identity stronger.

Cons:

  1. Redundancy: On podcast platforms, it’s already obvious your show is a podcast, so adding the word might feel unnecessary or repetitive.

  2. Limiting Growth: If you ever expand into other formats (e.g., video, blogs), having "podcast" in the title might feel restrictive.

  3. Aesthetic Appeal: Some creators prefer shorter, cleaner titles without extra words, as it can make the name more memorable and sleek.

Consider your audience and long-term goals. If clarity and searchability are top priorities, add "podcast." If you want a versatile, minimalist title, skip it!
