Report Warns Podcast Metrics Hurt Ads

A new Oxford Road report says podcast ad growth is being held back by poor measurement methods. Half of brands see limited performance data as the top growth barrier, and 76% want video measurement—especially on YouTube—to match audio standards. Nearly a quarter would increase podcast ad spend by 50% or more if better attribution tools were available. Major advertisers also worry about brand safety, ad clutter, and AI in host-read ads, calling for clearer standards. The report urges platforms to work together on clear, universal metrics to help podcasting grow.
