Introducing Your New Referral Program!
Premium Content - Welcome back to your daily insight into the fast-paced world of podcasting! If you've been following along with us this week, you will no doubt have read about our first way of taking command of your audience through the power of email marketing. Yesterday, we spoke about creating a landing page for your newsletter and promoting a giveaway that offers value to your listener in exchange for their email address.
If you have already signed up for BEEHIIV's newsletter software, then you're a step forward this week on your podcasting journey. Here's the process to follow over the next few days to create your email funnel:
Sign up for Beehiivs newsletter software.
Create your landing page & connect it to a domain, or use the one Beehiiv provides.
Think of what your listeners would like to receive in exchange for joining your newsletter & create it or outsource that part to someone who can build it.
Promote your giveaway in your podcast and on your social media.
Add a section in your newsletter for your subscribers to refer your podcast & newsletter to their friends, family & colleagues to earn rewards.
REWARDS
The more you start to treat your podcast like a business, the more you can put processes in place to grow it. This can turn your podcast into something your listeners love so much that they will happily tell their like-minded friends about it.
Implementing a referral program is crucial for growing a podcast. It uses word-of-mouth marketing, letting happy listeners promote the show to new audiences. This helps to expand the listener base efficiently. Referral programs also encourage current listeners to become active ambassadors. This builds a community of engaged and loyal followers who are more likely to recommend the podcast to friends and family, increasing its reach and impact.
I suggest that once you have an ever-increasing newsletter list, even if it has just 100 subscribers, add in a referral loop for your listeners to do your marketing for you. With BEEHIIV, they have this built-in feature and are ready to use. Simply create a referral campaign in your newsletter and select rewards for your listeners to earn for sharing your podcast, and with each referral they make, BEEHIIV's software tracks their progress. Here are some ideas that your listeners can earn:
10 Referrals They could receive a shout-out as a top supporter in your podcast.
25 Referrals You can send them a free T-shirt with your podcast logo on it.
50 Referrals They can enjoy a quick 10-minute thank-you call from their favorite podcast host.
It's clear to see how effective and rapid this week's method will be at scaling your podcast listeners & more importantly, creating a community around your show.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background? As a journalist, author, veteran Talk TV/Radio Show, editor, publishing consultant & 13 times book judge, I've interviewed thousands of new thought teachers and speakers. I'm always being asked to recommend good books to help guide spiritual seekers on their journeys of self-discovery. Creating the NO BS Spiritual Book Club as a trusted resource was a no-brainer. | What inspired you to start a podcast? With the mind/body/spirit arena exploding, it's getting harder for spiritual seekers to sort the wheat from the chaff. So I invite respected teachers, authors & speakers to share their 10 Book List of books that inspired them the most on their life journey, and share the intimate stories behind their lists on our weekly live streaming video podcast. |
How did you come up with the name of your podcast? There's a lot of spiritual fluff being published. Since I am known for having a finely honed BS meter, the name presented itself. | What is the main focus or theme of your show? Guests share the 10 books that shifted their perceptions, changed their worldview, and inspired them the most on their spiritual/life journey, and tell the intimate stories behind their choices. How they came across the book, the impact it had on them, and how it changed their life, work, and belief systems ![]() |
Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you? Every show is a real joy because no one is pitching a book, promoting a program, or trying to sell anything. Hence, every guest is relaxed, unplugged, and free to just talk about their lives and their lessons through the lens of the books that impacted them along the way. | Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why? Best-selling author, teacher, and former host of the IYANLA FIX MY LIFE show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network. What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about? The No BS Spiritual Book Club Show/Podcast is now in its 4th year. We have some exciting plans for its future, but I am not at liberty to start sharing them yet. |
A special thanks to Sandie Sedgbeer for sharing her insightful podcast journey thus far and we wish her all the best with his continued podcast growth.
