According to a Morning Consult study, 32% of podcast listeners in the US prefer video podcasts to audio-only podcasts
YouTube boasts nearly 5 times greater than estimated total podcast listeners globally. By volume, YouTube ad revenue is nearly 10x higher than podcasting ad revenue annually. In 2021, podcast ads generated a reported $842M for companies. However, ad revenues on YouTube alone have gone as high as $8.6B.
The 11th Podcast Download report by Cumulus Media and Signal Hill Insights found that only 35% of people prefer audio-only podcasts. In contrast, 64% like their podcasts to include video elements for active viewing or background play.
