Podcast Tip Of The Day

Podcast Lighting Tips for Professional-Looking Videos

  1. Prioritize Soft, Even Lighting

Use diffused light sources (softboxes, ring lights, or LED panels with diffusion) to avoid harsh shadows.

Position lights at a 45-degree angle from your face to create depth without unflattering contrasts.

  2. The 3-Point Lighting Setup (Basic Pro Quality)

Key Light: Brightest light, placed at 45° to one side of your camera.

Fill Light: Softer light on the opposite side (half the key’s brightness) to reduce shadows.

Backlight (Hair Light): Behind you to separate you from the background.

  3. Natural Light Hack

Sit facing a window (indirect sunlight) for flattering, free lighting. Avoid direct sun—it’s too harsh.

  4. Avoid Overhead Lights

Ceiling lights cast shadows under eyes/nose. If unavoidable, bounce light off a white wall or foam board.
