Spotify on United's Seatback Screens

United Airlines and Spotify have partnered to offer passengers over 450 hours of free content on the airline's seatback screens. This includes music, podcasts, audiobooks and even video podcasts for the first time ever on a flight. Passengers will soon be able to log into their Spotify accounts directly through the inflight entertainment system. The new feature is available on more than 680 United aircraft under a new "Spotify" menu category. On Starlink-equipped flights, passengers can stream without interruption from gate-to-gate.

Spotify held its first-ever Podcast Awards in Mexico, celebrating the country's flourishing podcast scene. A variety of Mexican creators presented awards across 10 categories at the event attended by over 300 industry guests and nearly 200 fans. Fans also played a pivotal role, casting almost eight million votes ahead of the ceremony.

Job Reduction at Spotify's Podcast Division for Video Focus

Spotify has cut 15 jobs from its podcast division, impacting The Ringer and Spotify Studios. This represents a 5% reduction in staff numbers across those departments. These roles will be redirected to support Spotify's video podcast push and no podcast shows are being cancelled due to these layoffs.

Top 5 Podcasts Remain the Same for Three Months

The most listened-to shows on Podtrac for May were News Now, The Daily, Up First, Dateline NBC and Fox News Hourly Update. There was a shuffle in rankings with On Purpose with Jay Shetty entering the top ten while Huberman Lab dropped out of the top 20. True crime series Rotten Mango made its debut in the ranking at No.17.
