Visionary Voices Of Podcasting
The Storyteller Who Turned Struggle into Snap Judgment

Glynn Washington is the visionary creator and host of Snap Judgment, the groundbreaking NPR storytelling show that blends immersive narratives with cinematic soundscapes. Born into a fundamentalist cult and raised on a rural Michigan farm, Washington escaped isolation through books, writing, and eventually law school—only to pivot into radio after winning a public media talent contest. His journey from nonprofit work to crafting one of podcasting’s most distinctive voices reflects his belief that "you can’t hate someone once you know their story." Here, he reflects on creativity, business survival, and why the best stories come from picking at life’s scabs.
