Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

Reginald Sherman is a minister, motivational/inspirational, spiritual speaker, and motivational coach. Reginald D overcame adversity and personal challenges in his life and uses them to inspire others through his podcast, Real Talk With Reginald D Podcast

What inspired you to start a podcast?

My story is rooted in faith, resilience, and a divine calling that inspired me to start my podcast. I had to overcome many setbacks. God spoke to me in the mirror, not only stopping me from taking my life but also telling me the calling he placed on my life. And, through vivid dreams, he showed me church & people gathered outside symbolizing my purpose wasn’t confined to pastoring within four

How did you come up with the name of your podcast?

Four walls, but it was a message to speak to the masses - & I started my podcast. I came up with the name Real Talk With Reginald D, because it was something that reflects open, honest conversations about life, faith, and overcoming challenges.

What is the main focus or theme of your show?

The main focus of my podcast is to inspire and empower through faith-based conversations about overcoming adversity, personal growth, and resilience. I share personal stories, motivational insights, and spiritual guidance, encouraging people to embrace their purpose and navigate challenges with faith, hope, and determination.

Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you?

The first memorable moment was realizing after an entire interview that I had forgotten to hit the record button. The second was my interview with Miss North Carolina. It went great or so I thought. Later, I discovered her phone had caused an audio loop, ruining her recording. When I asked her to re-record, she refused, leaving me with unusable audio and no way to salvage the interview.

Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why?

I think my favorite guest to date was a 12-year-old entrepreneur who runs a food truck business while balancing school. He's incredibly determined and motivated, not only chasing his dreams but also giving back by feeding the homeless. His drive and passion at such a young age were truly inspiring.

What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about?

After being ranked #69 on Feedspot’s Top 80 Inspirational Podcasts on the web, Real Talk With Reginald D is just getting started. We’re taking things to the next level with even more impactful interviews, fresh motivational and faith-based digital products, and a dynamic listener challenge designed to help our community rise higher, live bolder, and walk in purpose every week

Podcast Tip Of The Day

Music isn’t just decoration—it’s emotional scaffolding for your podcast. Think like a film composer, not a radio host. Here’s how to wield it wisely:

1. Where to Add Music

  • Intros/Outros: Establish your show’s sonic brand.

  • Transitions: Smoothly guide listeners between segments.

  • Emotional Peaks: underscore key moments (e.g., a dramatic story or punchline).

2. What to Ask Before Dropping a Track

  • Does this match my show’s vibe? (No dubstep for your mindfulness podcast.)

  • Is it distracting or supporting? Music should elevate, not overpower.

  • Is it legal? Use royalty-free libraries (free/paid) like Epidemic Sound or Free Music Archive.

A Final Note

Score your story. Don’t soundtrack it.
