UK Listeners Prefer Historical Podcasts

UK listeners are showing a preference for historical content in podcasts, according to data from Notta.ai. The most popular podcast is "The Rest Is History," with 114,400 monthly searches. Despite the global popularity of American shows, British audiences prefer local content and eight out of the top ten podcasts are UK-produced. These cover diverse genres like politics, comedy, and business but history dominates listener interest. This research suggests that while podcast trends have been increasing generally over time, history-focused shows are capturing the imagination of Britons.

ANDY GRANT’S PODCAST JOURNEY
Meet Andy Grant, the host of Real Men Feel with Andy Grant. He is an inspiring author, speaker and transformation coach that promotes the importance of emotional expression in men. As a healer and suicide attempt survivor, he encourages men to embrace their humanity and all its emotions. His mission? To remind every man that it's okay to feel. | ![]() |
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background? Andy Grant is a best-selling author, speaker, Transformational Energy Coach, healer, and suicide prevention activist. As the host of the award-winning Real Men Feel podcast, he champions emotional well-being and encourages men to step out of the “emotional closet.” Andy holds certifications in Positive Psychology, the Enwaken Coaching System, Akashic Records, Life Activation, and more. | What inspired you to start a podcast? For years, I was an energy coach with mostly female clients. I kept feeling pulled to create something specifically for men. After being asked to speak about masculinity, the phrase real men feel stuck with me. In early 2016, I received a healing called Life Activation, and within weeks, the first episode of Real Men Feel was live. |
How did you come up with the name of your podcast? I was invited to give a presentation on masculinity in late 2015. As I researched, I kept seeing phrases like real men do this, and real men don't do that. I thought to myself, what if real men feel was a common and supported phrase? What if people saw a man crying in public and said, wow, that's a real man right there? | What is the main focus or theme of your show? The mental health and personal growth of men. Real Men Feel reminds men that they are human beings and have the right to experience and express all of their emotions. ![]() |
Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you? Way back in episode 26, I interviewed Boysen Hodgson from the ManKind Project. He talked about a weekend-long training and initiation for men called the New Warrior Training Adventure. Our conversation convinced me it was something I wanted to do. One upcoming in a month, about 40 minutes from my home. In the show, I pledged to attend, and I did. I've been involved with them ever since.
| Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why? Panache Desai was probably the biggest deal to me. He's a teacher I've followed for years, he's a best-selling author, international speaker and has been on Oprah's Super Soul Sunday. That made me realize how easy it was to have well-known people on the show. All it took was an email. Many guests have become friends and returned to be on multiple times. What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about? About to celebrate episode 350! |

Podcast Tip Of The DayProfessional video lighting relies on three core elements—here’s what each does: 2. Fill Light – A softer light on the opposite side (half the key’s brightness) to gently reduce shadows without flattening your features. 3. Backlight (Hair Light) – Positioned behind you, this separates you from the background by adding a subtle glow to your shoulders/head. | ![]() |
