Different Careers, Same Success

A local attorney, a home improvement leader, and a direct-to-consumer expert all saw success using audio advertising through AM/FM radio and podcasts, as discussed in an Audacy Insights webinar. Gary Sarner from ROI360+ shared how radio helps his law firm clients connect authentically with local communities and build their brand over time. He highlighted the importance of frequent and varied radio ads to stand out in a competitive market. Kris Santin from Choice Cabinet switched from television and print to radio advertising and quickly saw positive results, with new customers visiting their store after hearing live reads on sports radio. Both experts agree that radio is effective for building long-term brand recognition and engaging local audiences.

Not All Podcasts Slow Down in Summer: Some Grow in July

In July, some podcast publishers in the U.S. saw increases in unique users and downloads, despite typical summertime drops. iHeartPodcasts remained the top individual publisher, with 30 million U.S. listeners and 162 million downloads, while the broader iHeart Audience Network reached 64 million listeners and 335 million downloads. The NPR Sales Network also performed well, with nearly 20 million listeners and 117 million downloads from its 68 podcasts.

Young People Now Listen to Podcasts as Much as Radio

Edison Research’s Share of Ear study shows that podcast listening in the U.S. has grown a lot since 2014, especially among young people. For 18-29 year olds, AM/FM radio used to be much more popular than podcasts, but now both make up 14% of their daily audio time. This is the first time podcast listening has caught up to AM/FM radio in this age group.

Nielsen Teams Up with Edison to Improve Podcast Measurement

Nielsen is teaming up with Edison Research to add podcast measurement to its media planning tool, Nielsen Media Impact, helping advertisers compare and plan across all major media types. The new feature, “Nielsen Podcast Fusion powered by Edison Research,” uses Edison Podcast Metrics to provide podcast data on networks, genres, and top shows. This integration aims to give advertisers a complete view of media performance as podcast listening grows, especially among adults aged 18-34.

Podcast Tip Of The Day

Pull standout quotes from your episodes and transform them into bold, shareable graphics—it’s the easiest way to hook scrollers and tease your audio’s best moments. A great quote does double duty: it previews your episode’s vibe and gives your audience a bite-sized reason to hit play.

Pro Tip: Use clean fonts, your podcast’s colors, and a subtle background (waveforms, muted episode art) to keep branding consistent.

A Final Note

“Your podcast is a conversation waiting to spark connections, challenge perspectives, and leave listeners hungry for the next episode.”
