A new report shows that 31% of U.S. adults listen to ad-supported podcasts every month, with the majority being younger and slightly more male. Podcasts have a high ad recall rate, with 86% of regular users recalling hearing or seeing a podcast ad in the past week. Podcast Tip Of The Day

Before hitting record, run this quick equipment checklist to avoid technical disasters:

  1. Test your mic – Record a 10-second clip to check for distortion, pops, or background noise (use headphones to monitor).

  2. Charge everything – Mics, interfaces, and recorders should be at 100% (keep spare batteries handy for wireless gear).

  3. Check connections – Loose cables cause 90% of "why isn't this working?!" moments. Secure XLR/USB links and tighten mic stands.

  4. Close noisy apps – Silence notifications, fans, and HVAC systems (a quick "Is anyone typing?" check saves editing headaches).

  5. Do a levels test – Speak at your loudest volume to set gain (aim for -12dB to -6dB to avoid clipping).
