Castro, a third-party podcast app, has been purchased by Bluck Apps, an independent app studio that created the Android podcast app Aurelian. This announcement comes nearly two months after Castro revealed it was looking for new owners.
Acast, a company that hosts podcasts and handles their sales, has stopped YouTube from accessing its RSS feeds. This is because YouTube's growing podcast platform demands that all podcasts submitted be ad-free, which contradicts Acast's method of earning money.

And heavy listeners (6+ hours/week) use four services to consume podcast content.
The growth in podcast ads is largely driven by increased podcast consumption worldwide. That said, podcast advertising is also on the rise due to the fact that the barrier to entry has fallen.
The podcasting community has seen an increase in hosts that want to do live recordings. Both to boost audience engagement and to create a new source of revenue.
Research by Reuters found that people generally listen to podcasts for entertainment and learning. However, we're seeing audio content being used in completely new ways. Which is creating entirely new podcast categories. In fact, Deezer's study concluded that 38% of US respondents listen to podcasts to improve their mood.
