Spotify's Senior Podcast Executive, Julie McNamara, Steps Down
Spotify's top podcast content executive, Julie McNamara, is parting ways with the company. Having joined Spotify in 2021 as VP and global head of podcast studios, she was responsible for managing Spotify Studios. This included overseeing the production of original podcasts by Parcast and Gimlet groups as well as negotiating licensed podcast agreements with notable figures like Joe Rogan, Alex Cooper, and Emma Chamberlain.

Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX and Tesla, revealed on Friday that users can now post podcasts, TV shows or movies on X for monetisation. Responding to his sister Tosca Musk's query - a co-founder of Passionflix streaming service, he confirmed that people could share their full-length films on X.
At the IAB Podcast Upfront event in New York this week, popular shows and effective brand partnerships were celebrated. Not only were celebrities like Jon Stewart and Charlamagne tha God a source of excitement, but also promising statistics about the industry's performance.
SpeakUp AI Inc., a leading company in AI-powered content creation, has successfully raised $500,000 in its initial funding round. The firm plans to use this fund to launch its first product - the AI Podcasting Copilot. This innovative tool will cater to a wide audience such as marketers, educators, writers and real estate professionals among others. It aims at simplifying podcast production and enhancing quality effortlessly.
A new BBC Radio 4 podcast, Intrigue: To Catch a Scorpion, features Barzan Majeed. Known as 'Scorpion', he is one of the top criminals in Europe. In the podcast, he confesses to illegally transporting thousands of immigrants to the United Kingdom via small boats and trucks across the English Channel.
Travis and Jason Kelce are reportedly discussing moving their widely liked podcast, "New Heights", to Amazon's Wondery. However, no official agreement has been confirmed yet, according to The Post.

B2B audiences are highly engaged with podcasts, with 51% of respondents across a range of job titles (including owners, founders, executives and employees) listening daily. An additional 24% also reported listening between 2-5 times a week on average.
According to the data, podcasts are being used by B2B audiences as educational tools, with 36% of participants using them to learn new things and 43% using them as their primary source of information.
According to a report by advertising intelligence platform MediaRadar, business podcasts saw the most growth in ad revenue this year, going up by 30%, as listeners proved to have a higher intent of purchase. The number increased up to 70% when it comes to executives that would buy a product or brand mentioned in the podcast.
In addition to increasing purchase intent, branded podcasts proved to be effective in increasing brand awareness and favourability, with data showing that respondents were 3.1x more aware and 2.1x more favourable of a brand when they also liked the podcast.
