Podcast Of The Day

The Retrievals

"The Retrievals" returns for a powerful second season, shifting its investigative lens from in-vitro fertilization to one of medicine's most unsettling and underreported crises: patients experiencing severe pain during C-sections. As the most common major surgery globally, cesarean deliveries are presumed to be fully managed under anesthesia—yet countless women report being awake and agonizingly conscious during the procedure, their suffering often dismissed or minimized. Through meticulous reporting and empathetic storytelling, this award-winning New York Times podcast uncovers the systemic failures, cultural biases, and medical mysteries that silence these experiences, while highlighting the courageous efforts of patients, clinicians, and advocates working to ensure no one ever has to endure pain during birth again.

Podcast Tip Of The Day

Your podcast emails should be as engaging as your episodes—not a clutter of distractions. Use clear branding (like your podcast art!) at the top, followed by concise content with plenty of whitespace. Make your call-to-action impossible to miss—whether it’s “Listen Now,” “Share This,” or “Join Us.” Stick to one core message per email to avoid overwhelming your audience. Use bold or colored text sparingly to guide attention toward your most important links or updates. Always preview your email on mobile to ensure it’s easy to read and act on, no matter the device.

A Final Note

“Your subscribers trust your voice—honor that trust with emails as valuable as your episodes.”
