500K Video Podcasts on Spotify

Spotify reports strong growth in video podcasts, with nearly 500,000 shows and over 390 million users streaming video podcasts—a 54% yearly increase. The company’s investments, including new tools for creators and features like comments, have doubled user time spent on video content. Video podcast consumption jumped by over 80% after launching the Spotify Partner Program, which helps creators earn money. Spotify will partner with Netflix to distribute video podcasts in the U.S. from 2026, aiming to increase creators’ reach and generate more revenue opportunities. Despite user and revenue growth, Spotify's stock fell due to cautious guidance for the next quarter.

Podcast Creators Are Changing Media Influence
Acast’s Podcast Pulse 2025 report shows that podcast creators have a unique influence over their audiences, built on deep trust and genuine connection, rather than just reach. Most listeners see podcasts as personal conversations and trust hosts as much as journalists, making podcasters highly valuable for brands. While creators use many platforms, audio podcasts remain the most powerful way to build strong relationships with fans.

Podcast Tip Of The Day
It's appropriate to cancel a guest interview when their conduct, content, or preparation fundamentally conflicts with your show's values or quality standards—specifically if they provide misinformation you can't fact-check in real-time, exhibit disrespectful or harmful behavior, violate your clearly communicated preparation guidelines, or if their actual expertise proves significantly misaligned with what was pitched. While last-minute cancellations should be rare, prioritizing your audience's trust and your show's reputation is more important than preserving an episode that could damage your credibility. Always have a backup content plan ready, communicate professionally with the guest about your decision, and remember that a cancelled episode is far better than published content you'll regret.

A Final Note
“Always have a Plan B for your podcast—because technical glitches, guest cancellations, and life happen to everyone.”
