YouTube Music Enhances 'Create a Radio' for Better User Engagement

YouTube Music is working to strengthen its status as a complete music and podcast platform. They are accomplishing this by making their 'Create a radio' feature easier to use and adding sorting features for podcasts. Initially, the "Create a radio" option was found on the YouTube Music home page, but it often felt temporary compared to other features. By improving its accessibility, they aim to increase user engagement and interaction with the platform.

Sarah van Mosel, a seasoned professional in the industry, has been appointed as SiriusXM's senior VP of podcast strategy. This is a new role created within the company. Van Mosel is no stranger to SiriusXM as she was previously the chief revenue officer at Stitcher, which is a subsidiary of SiriusXM. Before this appointment, she held the position of EVP at iHeartMedia’s audio advertising group, known as iHeart Audience Network.
FlexMami, a bestseller author and nominated Logie award recipient with a successful podcasting career, is launching an innovative video-based podcast called 'No Deep Dives'. This new chat series offers light-hearted discussions on various topics rather than in-depth analysis. Only 8.7% of Chinese internet users will listen to podcasts on a monthly basis. These rates will be only 11.8 percent and 12.2 percent in Japan and South Korea, respectively. These three countries are at the very bottom of the worldwide ranking
According to the Reuters Institute, 40% of non-podcast listeners in Japan had no idea what podcasts were. Only 54.7 percent of internet users in Japan will utilize digital audio this year
China will have the biggest podcast listenership in the world by the end of 2024, because to its vast magnitude and rapid rate of expansion. However, its penetration rate will remain exceedingly low.
Even by 2024, only 13.8 percent of Chinese internet users, or 10.2 percent of the whole population, will be monthly podcast listeners. By that time, 40.0 percent of the US population will have been monthly podcast listeners.
