Yeardley Smith Launches New Podcast Network, Audio 99

Yeardley Smith, famous for lending her voice to The Simpsons and creating crime-themed podcasts, is setting up a new podcast network via her business, Paperclip Ltd. The network, named Audio 99, will work under the umbrella of Paperclip Ltd. Its main goal is to produce and launch a series of fresh shows. The inaugural show in this lineup will be Beyond Recognition: The Ruxton Murders - a true-crime series set in history that debuts on July 19.

SiriusXM Inks New Podcast Deal With Dirty Mo Media

SiriusXM has teamed up with NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Dirty Mo Media for a podcast partnership. This deal grants SiriusXM the sole right to advertise on Dirty Mo's programs. It also plans to broadcast Earnhardt's podcast, Dale Jr. Download, two times per week on its own NASCAR Radio channel starting in early June.

Acast podcasters to get exclusive discount on Nomono Sound Capsule

Acast podcasters can now enjoy a 20% discount on Nomono's Sound Capsule, thanks to a new collaboration between Acast and Nomono. This special offer also extends to Acast's worldwide studios.

Mariah Carey on New Audible Podcast and Not Always Getting Her Credit As a Songwriter

Mariah Carey has been making waves this week with new music releases. On Wednesday, she put out a remix of Muni Long's popular TikTok song "Made for Me." The following day, she launched an Audible Original podcast titled Portrait of a Portrait: Words + Music. In the show, Mariah delves into her emotional 2018 track "Portrait," and introduces a fresh dance version of it.

Local elementary students find their voice through podcasting

The Mendon-Upton Education Foundation has provided a grant of $1,200 to Clough Elementary School. This money was used by teachers to buy microphones, recording software and mixing boards for students in third and fourth grades. These kids have started their own podcast named "Clough Speaks Up". Liz Garden, the school's principal, stated that this project has been very educational for the students.

Semafor’s Ben Smith to Launch New Media Podcast ‘Mixed Signals’

Ben Smith, co-founder of Semafor, and Max Tani, a media editor, release a weekly newsletter every Sunday that covers the latest happenings in the media world. This includes various events such as Tucker Carlson's producer moving on or internal disputes at the New York Times. According to Smith, most people aren't keeping up with these industry discussions. To address this issue, he plans to launch a new podcast on May 31st.

• Research shows that people spend over seven hours per week consuming podcast content and that Gen Zers, specifically, achieve an average completion rate of 80% on podcast episodes lasting over 50 minutes.

• Ad spend is catching up with this cultural behavior: In 2024, podcasts will surpass $2 billion in ad revenue for the first time, and by 2028, that number will top $3 billion. 

• Spotify data found that 63% of people surveyed said they trust their favorite podcast host more than their favorite social media influencer.

• Gen Zers in the U.S. seem to be feeling artsy: They increased their streams in the arts category (content related to art, drawing, film, theater, anime and more) by 23% YoY — a trend unique to this demographic.

• In the U.S., 47% of podcast streams by users aged 18–24 and 45% of podcast streams by users aged 13–17 were from shows that originated in a country outside of the U.S.
