"Cheers" Stars Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson Reunite for New Podcast
Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson, who starred together in the popular sitcom "Cheers" over 30 years ago, are reuniting for a new podcast. The show is called “Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (Sometimes)” and it will be available on SiriusXM. Starting from June 12, listeners can tune into the podcast every Wednesday on all major platforms.

The latest US Podcast Advertising Revenue Study for 2024 by PricewaterhouseCoopers, commissioned by the IAB, shows a slight rise in podcast ad earnings. In 2023, they grew by 5% to reach $1.9 billion. However, this increase is quite small compared to the robust growth recorded in past years.
In 2023, comedy podcasts gained more popularity than sports in terms of investment. This shift was led by Joe Rogan, whose podcast topped Spotify's charts for three consecutive years.
Starting May 20th, FOX News Audio is introducing The FOX Business Rundown Podcast. This show, available on Mondays and Fridays, will offer listeners a quick look at the hottest topics in business news. The information will be delivered by various anchors and reporters from the FOX Business Network, including Taylor Riggs, Kelly O’Grady and Lydia Hu.
Jon Stewart, known for his role on The Daily Show, is set to host a new podcast for Comedy Central starting in June. The show will be named "The Weekly Show" and it will serve as an audio form of The Daily Show. It will feature discussions on current affairs and interviews with notable figures including authors and celebrities.
Paul Telegdy, former NBC chief, is entering the podcast industry. He has partnered with Mario Lopez from Access Hollywood and Eric Winter from The Rookie to create a sci-fi podcast called Zone of Silence. This bilingual podcast in Spanish and English is being created by The Whole Spiel and Sonoro. Telegdy left NBC in August 2020.

The number of new shows In 2021 (~740,000) and 2022 (244,000) seemed to spiral downwards quite fast, but this trajectory has somewhat flattened in 2023 (212,000 new podcasts).
