Spotify Reports Record User Growth in Q2 2025

Spotify announced strong results for Q2 2025. Subscribers rose 12% year-over-year to 276 million. Monthly Active Users increased 11% to 696 million. Total revenue grew 10% to €4.2 billion, with improved gross margin and operating income. Subscriber growth in the first half of 2025 was more than 30% higher than the first half of 2024.

Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) is looking to hire a leader for its podcast network. The new hire will recruit independent podcast hosts and help them expand and make money from their shows on the A16z platform. The firm is offering a yearly salary of up to $424,000 for the position.

Guernsey WW2 Deportee Podcast Up for Award

The Guernsey Deportees podcast, which shares the real stories of World War Two deportees from Guernsey, has been shortlisted for a British Podcast Award. The six-part series features the experiences of three people, including producer Ollie Guillou’s grandmother, Jill Chubb, who was deported as a child to a Nazi camp. Winners of the award will be announced in October.

Acast Teams Up with Magnite to Boost Podcast Ads

Acast has partnered with Magnite to make its podcast inventory, which includes over 140,000 podcasts, available to advertisers. This partnership allows advertisers to access and manage campaigns for podcasts, connected TV, and online video in one platform. The move aims to meet growing demand for easier and more unified advertising across different digital audio and video formats.

Apple’s iOS 26 Lets Users Play Podcasts Automatically During Workouts

Apple’s new iOS 26 update includes a Workout Buddy feature that lets users set podcasts or music to play automatically when they start a workout. The app will also suggest playlists or podcasts based on what users usually listen to during certain workout types. Workout Buddy will work on Apple Watch with Bluetooth headphones and needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence.
