The 35th Australian Commercial Radio & Audio Awards highlighted the best in radio and podcasting. Strange Horizons Celebrates 25 Years with New Podcast Series

Strange Horizons is launching a year-long podcast series called SH@25 to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The series will include interviews with authors, artists, poets, and former staff members about the magazine's journey since its foundation in September 2000. Podcast editor Kat Kourbeti and producer Michael Ireland will lead this project.

Krista Goon is the host of Womenpreneur Asia, a show dedicated to celebrating and inspiring women entrepreneurs in Asia. As an entrepreneur herself, Krista is passionate about sharing her experiences and knowledge with other aspiring businesswomen. She hails from Malaysia and apart from being a successful businesswoman, she's also an author and marketer. Her work on Womenpreneur Asia is supported by Redbox Studio.

How did you come up with the name of your podcast?

I wanted a name that could immediately convey what the podcast was about. Hence, Womenpreneur Asia is coined from Women + Entrepreneur + Asia. I knew I wanted the keywords of "women" and "Asia" in my podcast name as this would help build a recognizable brand. I have big dreams for the podcast. With a name like Womenpreneur Asia, it could be a conference, retreat, programme and more.

What is the main focus or theme of your show?

I bring a personal touch to my show where it's about sharing the story of the woman entrepreneur, her fears, dreams and hopes and also her strategies and courage. When you listen to an episode, you feel like you're a fly on the wall, eavesdropping on two women having a delightful, warm and interesting conversation about business and life.

Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you?

I have teared up on recordings because I have been so inspired by one or two of my guests and their stories.

Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why?

Mayuree Aroonwaranon of Thailand who made me cry during recording. Her story of growing up in the slums of Thailand and wanting a better life for herself resonated with me because she eventually came back to Thailand to start her business. She wants to give back to the children of the slums because she was once a child of the slum.

What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about?

Season 8 has completed its run and I am taking a break until Season 9 starts (Nov/Dec). I am collaborating with two of my guests to create an event for 2025 in their country that's geared at women and cultural diversity. I am also working with 2 other women podcasters on separate projects to grow our communities and podcasts. I have also written an ebook on podcasting.
