WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE PODCAST WORLD
Auddia Changes Strategy to Broaden its Podcasting Scope
In November, Auddia announced plans to incorporate ad-free podcast listening in its streaming radio and podcast app, Faidr. While discussions are ongoing with podcast publishers about this launch, the company has decided to change direction slightly. Auddia still intends to offer some entirely ad-free podcasts via Faidr, but now sees a bigger opportunity for its software. This new approach will make better use of their existing platform and engage with the wider podcasting industry on a much larger scale.
In Other News
Auddia Inc., an innovative AI platform that revolutionizes the way users interact with AM/FM radio, podcasts and other audio content, has today announced a collaboration with Sounds Profitable. Sounds Profitable is a top firm specializing in podcasting research and advocacy.
Neil Young is returning his music to Spotify after leaving the platform over two years ago. He stated that this decision was driven by what he perceives as disinformation in podcasts on Apple and Amazon platforms. Young also mentioned that he couldn't remove his music from Apple Music and Amazon Music, as it would severely limit the accessibility of his music to fans who prefer streaming.
In today's world where we have access to loads of information and short attention spans, businesses are always searching for new ways to engage their customers. More and more companies are now exploring podcasts, a platform that has quickly shifted from being a specialized hobby to a widely popular trend.

PODCAST FACTS
Did You Know?
According to Scott Bonn, professor of criminology at Drew University and author of the book, Why We Love Serial Killers, true crime “triggers the most basic and powerful emotion in all of us—fear.”
In a study conducted by social psychologist Amanda Vicary, it was found that women tend to prefer true crime topics more than men.
Clinical psychologist Dr. John Mayer, who studies violence and media, indicated that people, and women, in particular, use true crime stories as a way to purposefully expose themselves to violence as a way to “build up [their] tolerance to something scary and seemingly inevitable.”
Dr. Mayer further explained this phenomenon as he connected watching true crime as an extension of people’s inability to look away from a disaster or tragedy. His research indicates that when people become aware of a violent situation or disaster, it “stimulates the amygdala (the part of the brain responsible for emotions, survival tactics and memory).
