Apple introduces transcripts for Apple Podcasts

Apple has unveiled a new feature for Apple Podcasts - transcripts. This unique tool allows users to read the complete text of an episode, search within it for certain words or phrases, and even click on the script to start playing the podcast from that specific part. As each episode is played out, every word gets highlighted so listeners can easily keep track.

  • According to 2020 survey data, podcasts were listened to more in the North-East of the country and by people aged between 18 and 34 years old. Among male adults, 43 percent stated they listened to podcasts over the previous twelve months, while female listeners did not go over 39 percent. Excluding music programs, news was the second most popular podcast category, followed by entertainment shows. Female listeners reported a significant interest in health and lifestyle podcasts (32 percent), while the business genre appealed to about one-fourth of young listeners.

  • In 2019, 85 percent of podcasts’ users accessed their audio content through free subscriptions, while eleven percent mixed free and paid access. Only four percent of listeners paid for a subscription or purchased the podcast’s content.
