How The Song Exploder Rose to Be The Premier Music Podcast
Launched in January 2014, Song Exploder has become a standout podcast due to its unique concept. Each bite-sized episode, typically no longer than half an hour, features a musician discussing one of their top songs in detail. The program's appeal lies both in the personal stories shared and the intricate dissection of music production. Over 270 episodes have aired so far, featuring a diverse range of guests from legendary artists and lesser-known indie bands to pop stars and TV theme songwriters.

Chicago's WBEZ is dealing with financial difficulties and as a result, they're discontinuing their podcast division. They've stopped production of three shows: Nerdette, When Magic Happens, and Making. Additionally, the music channel Vocalo will stop making content from May 1st onwards. Fourteen employees have lost their jobs including some at the Chicago Sun-Times which was bought by WBEZ's parent company, Chicago Public Media, in 2022.
Experienced Perth advertising professional, Keith Ellis, is the driving force behind The 101 Connection. According to Ellis, their strategy is effective as they have gained over 130,000 listeners in just three months. The 101 Connection provides businesses with a fresh approach to communicate and engage with a new audience.
Trae Young, the standout point guard for the Hawks, hasn't hit the court since February. Information regarding his condition and potential return has been scarce. However, on a recent episode of his podcast "From the Point," which he co-hosts with Bleacher Report, Young discussed his injury. He hinted that fans might not have to wait much longer for his comeback.

With the proportion of weekly podcast listeners in Great Britain increasing, from 36% in 2021 – as highlighted in the YouGov Global Media Outlook Report - to 42% in April 2023 (as per the latest data from YouGov Profiles) it is safe to say that podcasts are not a bubble about to burst.
Comedy (31%) is the top podcast genre amongst this group followed by sports (21%) and TV and movies (20%) in second and third place. Documentaries (15%) and educational podcasts (14%) bring up the rear of the list of top ten podcast genres amongst Britons who listen to podcasts at least once a week.
While close to a third of the male podcast listeners (29%) listen to sports podcasts, this proportion falls to just a twentieth when it comes to female listeners (4%). Similarly, men are also significantly likelier than women to engage with technology podcasts (22% vs. 9%).
Data from YouGov profiles shows that among Britons who listen to podcasts at least once a week, Spotify is the most popular option (38%), followed by BBC Sounds (26%) and Apple Podcasts (23%).
