YouTube Leads in Podcast Listening Among Younger Audiences

YouTube has become the most popular platform for podcast listening in the US, especially among Gen Z listeners. This shift reflects a growing preference for video podcasts, which allow audiences to both watch and listen to content. Radio stations can learn from YouTube’s success by incorporating more visual elements into their programming to attract and retain younger audiences.

Triton Digital Releases September 2024 Canada Podcast Rankings

Triton Digital, a leader in digital audio and podcast technology, has released its latest Canada Podcast Ranker for September 2024. The report shows that Le Radiojournal (Radio Canada), Front Burner (CBC/Radio-Canada) and Dateline NBC (NBCUniversal News Group) were the top French-language, English-language and overall podcasts respectively. The SiriusXM Podcast Network secured first place on the Top Networks Report with an average of 3.86 million weekly downloads.

New Media Podcast from Puck to Feature Top Industry Executives

Puck, a new media company, is launching a podcast called The Grill Room featuring influential figures from the media industry. The show will be hosted by Dylan Byers and produced in partnership with Audacy Podcasts. New episodes will release twice weekly starting on October 29th.

BetterHelp Drops to Second Place as Amazon Increases Podcast Ad Spend

In September, Amazon spent the most on podcast advertising, overtaking previous top spender BetterHelp. The total amount of money spent by the top 15 advertisers on podcast ads more than doubled from August to September, reaching $57.72 million. Among these top spenders, nine dedicated a significant portion of their budget to sports podcasts.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I grew up on a farm and went to college to study what used to be called computer programming. A professor gave me a book on blackjack and card counting to write a program for a class project.

What inspired you to start a podcast?

Before the pandemic, people would always comment, you have a unique point of view on gambling. I was bored during lockdown, and when the first casinos reopened near me, I decided to teach that unique point of view to other people.

How did you come up with the name of your podcast?

True story, no joke. I needed a way to carry hand sanitizer during casino visits. I bought a motorcycle vest with 23 pockets to wear to the casino. My good friend Gabriel said you look like you are ready for Casino Combat. The domain casinocombat.com was $1,000. The domain casinokombat.com was $20. Casino Kombat was born.

What is the main focus or theme of your show?

Every episode, I attempt to use stories and humor to teach people how to win the game of casino gambling.

Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you?

It's a bit funny, but the biggest thing that sticks out, is learning after 3 episodes, that I didn't have to do the entire show perfectly in one take. I go record in segments, edit things together, and take things out if I make a mistake.

 

Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why?

Michael Feldman of Premier Casino Hosting. He literally changed my life as a gambler and the lives of listeners by showing us how we could go on cruises for free using our land-based play.

What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about?

Next up, we just did a 12-day adventure. 3 nights comped at Tropicana in Atlantic City. Then a comped cruise to Bermuda. Then 2 more comped night at Ocean in Atlantic City. We spent time with listeners. Ate some great food. Played in a blackjack tournament. I have lots to share with everyone.

How To Start A Podcast With Podbean

  1. Set Your Podcast Information

    Sign in to Podbean. Click "Settings". In "General", change Podcast Title, Category, and Description. Upload your podcast logo (custom artwork needed for Apple Podcasts - see settings page and FAQ for details). Click "Update Options" to save.

  2. Publish a Podcast Episode

    Sign in to Podbean and go to the dashboard. Click "Episodes" then "Episode List". Hit the green "New Episode" button on top right. Upload a file for your episode or select one from your Media Manager. Edit title, description, and logo of the episode as needed. Click “Publish Now” to release it; it'll appear on Podbean and any linked directories. To save as draft, click "Save as a draft". To schedule, click the blue arrow near "Publish Now", then hit "Schedule Episode".

  3. Set Podcast Logo

    To upload a custom image for your podcast episode, click "Choose new image" or select one from the "Media Manager" drop-down menu.

  4. Edit a Podcast Episode

    To edit a published podcast, sign into your Podbean account and go to the dashboard. Click "Episodes" - "Episode List". Select the episode you want to change. You can then modify the title, description, file, image and settings of your podcast episode. Once done, click "Publish Now". If needed, use the arrow next to this button to set a new release time and date for your edited episode.
