Why Longer Attribution Windows Matter in Audio Advertising

The Prolonged Impact of Audio Ads Explained

Audio advertising is effective for long-term impact, with 92% of a radio ad's influence occurring after the initial play. The deeper connection audio forms with listeners means its effect does not fade quickly. Therefore, it's important to measure attribution over longer periods, such as a minimum of 30 days for retail and up to 6-12 weeks for high-consideration categories like automotive or financial services. Audio increases brand salience by building memory structures in the brain which leads to intentional actions from consumers when they're ready to buy. This demonstrates that audio's strength lies in capturing intention rather than impulse.

Podcast Journey

JIM ADAM’S PODCAST JOURNEY

Meet Jim Adams, the host of "Monster Attack," a podcast that pays tribute to classic monster movies. As a former radio personality, Adams takes us on a nostalgic journey back to an era when radioactive dinosaurs menaced Tokyo, werewolves were the terror du jour and mad scientists conducted unspeakable experiments in sprawling mansions.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I was born in Auburn, NY. I did stints as a Wake-up radio host in NW Georgia and also did film work in the Atlanta (something I still do today). In 2014, a friend and I started a podcast network. He moved on and in 2016 I created MONSTER ATTACK! with award-winning monster artist Mark Maddox. We are a few weeks away from our 9th anniversary.

What inspired you to start a podcast?

I always wanted to do a radio show about growing up as a "Monster Kid," but the folks I worked for did not like the idea. When I got out of radio and became involved with starting a podcast network, I pursued my dream of talking about Monster Movies on a podcast.

How did you come up with the name of your podcast?

My co-host Mark Maddox and I decided on the name after our premier show. We wanted something catchy and descriptive of the podcast.

What is the main focus or theme of your show?

Sharing our experiences with the movies that greatly influenced us while growing up. Monster Movies opened the door for many of us into other film genres and lifestyle decisions. They remain a large part of my life even today

Have there been any particularly memorable moments during the recording that stick out to you?

One in particular. After we had been on the air for about 5 years I received an email from a listener who told me how much he appreciated the podcast because it allowed him to introduce his son to these classic Monster Movies just like his father did with him. It brought tears to eyes knowing the podcast had such an effect on people. That was my intention from the start.

Who has been one of your favorite guests so far, and why?

Burk Sauls, who works in the industry in Los Angeles. He wrote our distinctive theme song and shares a love for the movies Mark and I grew up with.

What's next for your show – any exciting plans we should know about?

The show has branched out, now looking at some of the films we saw as young adults. We will not feature any slasher or splatter films on MONSTER ATTACK!, but we have discussed starting a sister show for those types of films.

Podcast Tip Of The Day

Stay Hydrated for Clear, Consistent Audio! Why?

  • Voice Clarity: Dehydration causes dry mouth, vocal strain, and cracks—making editing a nightmare.

  • Endurance: Long recording sessions drain energy; water keeps your voice smooth and fatigue-free.

  • Click/Pop Reduction: A well-hydrated mouth reduces annoying saliva noises (fewer edits!).

How To:
Sip room-temperature water (ice water tightens vocal cords).
Avoid caffeine/alcohol pre-recording (they dehydrate!).
Keep a glass nearby and pause for quick hydration breaks.
